Author Guidelines

Authors are required to submit a Publication Ethics Statement, which can be downloaded from the official website of JMRA: Journal of Multidisciplinary Academic Research. These guidelines are intended to assist authors in preparing their manuscripts and should not be used as the article template. Authors must prepare their manuscripts using the official journal template available on the journal website.

JMRA: Journal of Multidisciplinary Academic Research accepts only original manuscripts that have not been previously published and are not under consideration for publication in any other journal. Manuscripts accepted for publication will be subject to an Article Processing Charge (APC) in accordance with the journal's publication policy. No fee will be charged for manuscripts that do not pass the editorial screening or peer review process.

Each submitted manuscript will undergo an initial editorial screening to ensure compliance with the journal's formatting requirements, journal scope, and similarity assessment using iThenticate.

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening will be evaluated by qualified Peer Reviewers through a Double Blind Peer Review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers remain anonymous. The reviewers' recommendations will form the basis for the editor's final decision to accept, request revisions, or reject the manuscript.

If necessary, authors may communicate with the Editorial Board regarding the review, revision, and publication process through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.

Manuscripts must be prepared using the official JMRA: Journal of Multidisciplinary Academic Research template available on the journal website. Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format. PDF files are not accepted.

All manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) available on the JMRA: Journal of Multidisciplinary Academic Research website.

The manuscript should be organized in the following order:

  1. Article Title
  2. Author Name(s) without academic titles
  3. Author Affiliation(s)
  4. Abstract in Indonesian and English with Keywords
  5. Introduction
  6. Research Method
  7. Results and Discussion
  8. Conclusion
  9. Recommendations and Acknowledgements (if applicable)
  10. References

Manuscripts may be written in Indonesian or English and must contain a minimum of 7 pages, excluding figures and tables.

The corresponding author must be identified with an asterisk (*) and provide a valid email address. All editorial correspondence, review results, revision requests, and publication decisions will be communicated only with the corresponding author.

For manuscripts with multiple authors, all authors must be listed, and affiliations should be identified using numbered superscripts. The author's first name should not be abbreviated. If an author has only one name, the same name should be entered twice in the OJS metadata to comply with the system requirements.

Manuscript Layout

The manuscript must use a single-column layout with the following specifications:

  • Paper size: A4 (21 × 29.7 cm).
  • Top margin on the first page: 4 cm.
  • Top margin on subsequent pages: 3 cm.
  • Left, right, and bottom margins: 2.5 cm.
  • Header: 1.5 cm from the top edge.
  • Footer: 2 cm from the bottom edge.
  • Minimum manuscript length: 7 pages.

Font and Paragraph Format

The manuscript must use Times New Roman throughout the document with the following specifications:

  • Article title: 14 pt, Bold.
  • Main text, author names, affiliations, email addresses, abstract, body text, conclusion, and references: 12 pt.
  • Section and subsection headings: Bold.
  • Footnotes: 10 pt.

Paragraphs should be fully justified without first-line indentation. A single line spacing should be used between paragraphs. Each paragraph should contain one main idea and be written clearly and systematically.

Paragraphs

Paragraphs must follow the block style format. Therefore, the first line of each paragraph should not be indented.

A spacing of 12 pt (single spacing) should be applied between paragraphs. Authors are expected to organize each paragraph logically, ensuring that it contains one main idea supported by relevant explanatory sentences and follows standard academic writing conventions.

Mathematical Equations

All mathematical equations must be created using the Insert Equation feature in Microsoft Word. The equation font size should be 11 pt, while subscripts and superscripts should use 9 pt.

Article Title

The article title must be centered at the top of the first page. The author name(s), without academic titles, should appear directly below the title, followed by the author affiliation(s) and the corresponding author's email address, all centered.

The title should be concise, informative, and accurately reflect the content of the manuscript. Each principal word should begin with a capital letter (Title Case), except for conjunctions and prepositions. Titles consisting of more than two lines should be arranged proportionally in an inverted pyramid format.

Section headings must be written in UPPERCASE, bold, centered, without underlining, and numbered using Arabic numerals.

Subsection headings should be written in bold Title Case, aligned to the left without indentation, and numbered according to their respective sections.

Figures and Tables

Figures and tables must be numbered consecutively in the order in which they appear in the manuscript.

Table titles should be placed above the table, while figure captions should be placed below the figure. All titles and captions must be centered and written in Times New Roman 10 pt Bold. If a title extends to more than one line, it should be arranged proportionally.

Only figures that are directly relevant to the manuscript should be included. Each figure must be placed as close as possible to the related discussion and must be cited in the text as Figure 1, Figure 2, and so forth.

Authors are fully responsible for the quality of all figures submitted. Both color and grayscale figures are accepted; however, the journal does not perform image enhancement or correction. For optimal publication quality, figures are recommended to have a maximum resolution of 220 dpi. The Editorial Board reserves the right to adjust the size and resolution of figures when necessary.

Figures

Figures must be numbered consecutively according to their order of appearance in the manuscript. Figure captions should be placed below the figure, centered, and written in Times New Roman 10 pt Bold.

Figures must be directly relevant to the manuscript and cited within the text. Authors are fully responsible for the quality of all submitted figures. A maximum resolution of 220 dpi is recommended to ensure optimal publication quality.

Tables

Tables should be directly related to the discussion and placed as close as possible to the corresponding text.

Each table must be numbered consecutively, with the title placed above the table, centered, and written in Times New Roman 10 pt Bold.

The font size within tables may be adjusted to maintain readability. If necessary, a narrower font such as Arial Narrow may be used. Tables should use horizontal lines only, following the journal template.

Header and Footer

The JMRA manuscript template already provides the appropriate header and footer format.

The first-page header contains the journal name, copyright information, and publication details, which will be completed by the Editorial Office.

Headers on even-numbered pages display the surname of the author. For manuscripts with more than three authors, only the surname of the first author followed by et al. should be shown.

Headers on odd-numbered pages display the article title in Title Case.

The footer on every page contains the journal name and page number, which will be finalized during the publication process.

References

All sources cited in the manuscript must appear in the References section, and every reference listed must also be cited within the text.

Reference requirements are as follows:

  • A minimum of 7 references.
  • Most references should be published within the last 10 years.
  • At least 80% of references should come from primary sources, especially peer-reviewed journals.
  • Authors should avoid citing non-academic sources such as personal blogs, Wikipedia, and popular media.
  • Self-citation should not exceed 30% of the total references.

Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote, or the Microsoft Word References feature. Authors remain responsible for ensuring the accuracy and consistency of all citations.

JMRA adopts the APA Style 7th Edition for both in-text citations and reference formatting.

In-text citations use the author-year system, for example:

  • (Hartati & Sururi, 2019)
  • (Dirgawati et al., 2018)
  • (Shaleh, 2020)

References must be arranged alphabetically by the first author's surname.
